It's official.
Both of our girls have RSV. (Click on "RSV" for more info.) They both went to the pediatrician today. Sofia is actually doing a bit better. She has now gone 24 hours without fever and actually showed some interest in playing today. It was nice to see our girl starting to look like her old self. But we now know just how sick she was. Her doctor said on a scale of 0-100 on the "sickness" scale, Sofia is a 68. (Not sure why he didn't pick 65 or 70!) So we can only imagine where he would have ranked her 48 hours ago.
Olivia, on the other hand, he puts at a 5. Much less severe than her sister. It is, however, incredibly scary to have a sick infant. Her only real symptoms at this point are slight congestion and a cough. Dr. M told us today that with babies, they don't really take their time getting sick, especially with RSV. He says it's like an elevator. They plummet fast; usually within 24 hours. He told us to watch for fever (so far none!) and trouble feeding (she is holding her own there, too) . We are really praying it is an incredibly mild case and she will start to improve over the next day or two. We are ready for both girls to finally be well.
On a side note, Olivia was weighed today and she was 10 pounds 7 ounces already! She really is our chunky monkey.
Please keep our girls in your thoughts and prayers if you can spare them. This sickness has gone on long enough and we want them well, once and for all!
